同年代の知り合いが、次々にマンションを購入していたのをきっかけに「自分もそろそろ…」とただなんとなく新築マンションを中心に家の購入を考え始めたといいます。
いろいろ探しましたが以前住んでいた賃貸住宅よりも狭い物件しか見つからなかったそうです。家を購入したら「広く」そして「自由」な住まいを想像していたため、どちらも手に入らないという現実に直面し 一旦は購入を白紙にしようかと考えた時期もあったと言います。
そんな時、たまたま書店で見つけた雑誌で、リノベーションのことを知り、そこからは即行動！リノベーションの会社に行って、１０件くらい内見したとき、ついに運命の角部屋で70㎡と広さも申し分なし。職場も自転車で通える距離の物件に出逢い、その場で決断したそうです。
デザイナーに出した要望は、「大きくてオープンな洗面台」、「WICとSICは広く」という2つプラス「家でゴロゴロできる、落ち着いた空間にしたい」と言うことだったそうです。
希望をもとにデザイナーが提案したプランコンセプトは「わたしサイズ」。今持っている洋服や鞄、そしてライフルスタイルまるごと自分だけのサイズで作るプランです。
そしてコンセプトをもとに出来上がったプランは浴室を中央に配置して、その周りをぐるりと回れる回遊性のあるプラン。全体を個室で細かく区切らず70㎡のハコを ２つのエリアに大胆に大きく分けた間取りで、バルコニー側のエリアはLDKと寝室をひとつにまとめたゆったり寛ぐ「ゴロゴロエリア」、玄関側は文頭で紹介したドレスアップを中心に一日の始まりを「アゲるエリア」とライフスタイルに合わせてプランニングしたそうです。
ノベ後は、お金の使い方がずいぶんと変わったそう。以前は、家の中に置くものにこだわりがなかったそうですが今はひとつひとつ全てにこだわって購入しているといいます。
リノベーションを選んだきっかけが「何でも自分に合わせてサイズが決められる」ということでったんですが「言葉の上では家をつくるんだから、当たり前に思えてしまうんですけど自分サイズでつくる事でこんなに生活が変わるっていうのは実際に住んでみて実感しています。」と今の生活とこれからの暮らしを本当に楽しんでいるようです。
